Schedule of Events

Take a train ride or just stop by to admire at the trains

The event schedule is posted below. An event general admission ticket is required to enter the event and see the exhibits. Train rides are optional and are available for an additional fee. Many different train rides are offered from a 45-minute round trip tour, leisurely all-day steam powered excursions, fulfilling dinner trains and don’t forget to take advantage of limited first-class seating.

The event will be open daily from 10am to 6pm. Most train rides will be sold out prior to the event. Don't miss out and get yours TODAY!

Friday June 25

9:00am - All-Day Train leaves Romney South Bound for Petersburg  
10:00am - Event Opens in Petersburg  
11:00am – Hourly Train Leaves Petersburg and returns (Diesel)  
12:00pm – Hourly Train Leaves Petersburg and returns (Diesel
12:45pm – All-Day Train Arrives in Petersburg from Romney
1:00pm - Hourly Train Leaves Petersburg and returns (Steam #17)  
2:00pm – Hourly Train Leaves Petersburg and returns (Steam #17)  
3:00pm – Hourly Train Leaves Petersburg and returns (Steam #17)  
4:00pm – All-Day Train Leaves for Romney (diesel)
6:00pm – Event closes for night
7:00pm – All-Day Train arrives in Romney

Event Schedule

Train

Over three days excursions will be operated over the 51 mile long South Branch Valley Railroad through the World Famous Trough. Some Trains will be pulled by vintage steam locomotives others by historic diesel locomotives.

Run A Real
Steam Locomotive

Here is your chance to live a dream and run a REAL steam locomotive. You will be given instruction by a professional steam locomotive engineer and YOU will pull the throttle, blow the whistle and stop the train.

Night Photo Sessions

Camera

Be one of a very limited number of people to have access to the trains after dark. A night photo session will be held with the assistance of special lighting and instructors. Don’t miss this rare commemorative opportunity.
